DUBLIN: Irish Prime Minister Taoiseach Simon Harris has said that despite protests such as Israel closing its embassy in Dublin, he will not remain silent on its atrocities in Gaza.
According to a foreign news agency report, Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris criticized the Israeli Prime Minister and linked him to destructive diplomacy, but said that Ireland will continue to support Israel’s right to defend itself.
Condemning the Israeli actions in Gaza, he said that supporting the Palestinians is a matter of pride for Ireland.
Speaking to reporters, Simon Harris said, “You know what I find reprehensible? Killing children, I think it is reprehensible, I find the massacre in Gaza reprehensible.”
He said, “You know what I find reprehensible?” Starving people and denying them access to humanitarian aid is condemnable.
It should be noted that Israel announced the closure of its embassy in Ireland last week, saying that the Irish government was taking anti-Israel measures.
This move by Israel came after Ireland supported the genocide case against Israel in Gaza at the International Court of Justice.
Irish Foreign Minister Michael Martin said that the purpose of supporting the case at the International Court of Justice was nothing more than upholding international law.
