Karachi: The price of sugar in the country has increased by Rs 10 to 15 per kg.
Speculators and hoarders have been active since the beginning of this week to increase the price of sugar. Big shopkeepers are offering a kilo of sugar for Rs 130 to 135 per kg and the ex-mill rate has reached Rs 115 to 125, while small shopkeepers are selling sugar for Rs 140 to 150 per kg with an increase of Rs 20.
Dealers have also indicated that the wholesale price of sugar per kg during December is likely to be Rs 128 and Rs 133 in January. On the other hand, it is being said that the price may increase by Rs 8 more in January in the name of futures trade.
