ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Interior Minister Dr. Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al-Dawood in which a proposal was made to declare Islamabad and Riyadh twin cities.
Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmed Al-Maliki was also present on the occasion. Matters of mutual interest and promotion of Pak-Saudi relations were discussed in the meeting, while mutual exchanges of paramilitary forces and police and joint training issues were also discussed.
The Saudi minister agreed to the Interior Minister’s proposal to declare Islamabad and Riyadh twin cities. It was decided in the meeting that further necessary steps will be taken in this regard.
It was agreed in the meeting to crack down on the mafia that sends beggars from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia and to implement the prisoner exchange agreement. Legal proceedings for the repatriation of 419 Pakistani prisoners in Saudi Arabia will be completed soon.
Mohsin Naqvi said that Saudi Arabia is our brotherly Islamic country, we will provide all possible support to promote bilateral cooperation. There is no visa for Saudi citizens to come to Pakistan, they can come whenever they want.
The Interior Minister said that the names of 4300 beggars have been added to the ECL, a zero tolerance policy has been adopted against beggars going to Saudi Arabia and an effective crackdown is being carried out against such beggar mafia across the country.
Praising the Vision 2030 of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Federal Interior Minister said that under the current leadership, Saudi Arabia will achieve a prominent position in the world in the economic, social and financial sectors by 2030.
The Deputy Interior Minister of Saudi Arabia says that there are very close relations with Pakistan, which they want to further promote, and are ready for mutual exchanges of paramilitary forces and police and joint training.
The meeting was also attended by the Additional Secretary Home, Special Secretary Home, Commandant Frontier Constabulary, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, IG Islamabad Police and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad.
