Lahore: The International Hockey Federation has decided to launch Project Pakistan to help Pakistan hockey.
International Hockey Federation President Tayyip Ikram has said that Pakistan is very much needed by Asia and World Hockey, a few years ago Project India was launched, India has also raised its profile in hockey by adopting this type of project, now in a few months we are also going to launch Project Pakistan.
He said that a similar project will be for Africa with Pakistan, our focus is that Pakistan returns to its lost position, for this it is necessary that you need very good talent, along with this, high-performance professionalism will be required. At present, Pakistan is facing difficulties due to lack of financial resources.
Tayyip Ikram said that Pakistan needs a strong financial model. Along with this, the government needs a hundred percent commitment. Twelve countries have played in the Paris Olympics so far, there are another eight to ten countries that could have played the Olympics but they lacked the government’s commitment along with the financial model.
This is a huge challenge for us, as FIH has supported Pakistan on the technical side in the past as part of giving equal opportunities to all and will continue to do so in the future. This is not my personal goal, but today Asia and the world of hockey need Pakistan.
