Sharjah: New Zealand defeated West Indies by 8 runs in the second semi-final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
Batting first, the winning team scored 128 runs for 9 wickets.
New Zealanders Georgia Plummer 33, Suzie Bates 26, Brooke Halliday 18 and Sophie Devine 12, while Deandra Dutton took 4 catches for 22 runs and Effie Fletcher took 2 wickets for 23 runs.
The unsuccessful team was limited to 120 runs for 8 wickets in the reply innings. Deandra Dutton scored 33 runs off 22 balls, captain Hayley Mathews scored 15 runs with the help of 2 fours, Effie Fletcher remained not out on 17. While Aidan Carson sent 3 players to the pavilion by giving 29 runs and Amelia Kerr took 2 catches for 14 runs.
The New Zealand team will now compete against South Africa on Sunday for the title.
