Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will leave today to attend the General Assembly session in New York from 23 to 27 September 2024 and will address the United Nations General Assembly on 27 September.
According to the spokesperson of the Foreign Office, the Prime Minister will hold meetings with world leaders, including the Secretary General of the United Nations and the President of the General Assembly, while the Prime Minister will participate in meetings on the topics of threats from sea level rise and leadership for peace.
The Prime Minister will urge the international community to take decisive action against climate change and Islamophobia.
According to the spokesperson, the Prime Minister will highlight the importance of reforms in the international financial framework while stressing the importance of resolving long-standing issues including the conflict in Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir.
The Prime Minister will reiterate his support for the role of the United Nations in promoting global peace, security and prosperity.
Before leaving for New York, the Prime Minister expressed his determination to present Pakistan’s position on international affairs on the social media website “X” on the global platform.
