It has been revealed that India is supplying arms to Ukraine in the war against Russia.
Who is not aware of the Indian war frenzy due to which the peace of the entire region is at stake. India first promoted a regional arms race and has become the world’s largest arms importer. India is now itself a leading international arms exporter and developing arms export sector.
According to a recent international report, “India is engaged in extensive arms sales to Ukraine through several European buyers”. According to the Reuters report, India has been supplying weapons to Ukraine for the past one year, according to customs and other sources. Russia has raised the issue on two occasions, including a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Indian counterpart in July.
According to Reuters, “Indian weapons have been sent to Ukraine through both Italy and the Czech Republic.” India has also previously exported arms to Italy, Czech Republic, Spain, and Slovenia. Between February 2022 and July 2024, India exported arms worth $135.25 million.
According to an international report, Arzan Tarapure, an Indian defense expert at Stanford University, said that Delhi’s attempt to increase arms exports is a key factor in its transfer of arms to Ukraine. Italian defense contractor Mechanica e Serviço Mechanismo (MES) is among the companies that are sending Indian-made weapons to Ukraine. India is supplying weapons to Ukraine as well as Israel.
According to the report, India has recently sent Indian-made weapons to Israel via Spain in a ship called Borkam. In a September 2024 meeting between Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Sergey Lavrov in Kazakhstan, the Russian minister complained to his counterpart about supplying arms to Ukraine.
