Kyiv: At least 41 people have been injured in Russian airstrikes on the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv.
Kharkiv mayor Olya Sinihobov said five children were among the injured, accusing Moscow of deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure.
He added that the destroyed buildings included a supermarket and a sports complex where residents visit daily.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in the wake of the attacks that Russia was once again terrorizing Kharkiv and targeting civilian infrastructure.
The Ukrainian president once again urged his Western allies to give Ukraine everything it needs to defend itself.
At least 10 different Russian attacks have been recorded, including the use of ballistic missiles, Kharkiv mayor Oleh Sinihobov said.
He added that people may be buried under the debris in some areas and rescue operations are underway.
The attack followed a series of overnight drone strikes by Ukraine against targets in Russia, where two energy facilities were set on fire.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, more than 158 Ukrainian drones targeted 15 regions of the country, including the capital Moscow.
