KABUL: A statement released by the Taliban government’s sports authority said that Mixed Martial Arts is considered un-Islamic because it is a violent sport.
According to the international news agency, the sports authority of the Taliban says that this ban was imposed after the investigation of the Ministry of Justice and Niyyah in Mankar that the sport of mixed martial arts is against the Islamic law or Shariah.
According to a statement sent to AFP by the Taliban’s sports authority, the sport has been found to be in conflict with Islamic teachings and against many aspects of Sharia because it is very violent and carries the risk of death.
The sports authority’s statement said the ban was also imposed in part to protect the lives of the players as it was considered too violent to cause serious injury or even death to the player. is
Note that mixed martial arts has not been recognized as an Olympic sport due to safety concerns.
