ISLAMABAD: Traders are on strike across the country against the increase in electricity bills and the imposition of taxes.
Business centers are closed in various cities of the country, including Karachi, on the appeal of Jamaat-e-Islami and business organizations. Schools have also been closed in some areas due to the strike. Due to the fear of protest in Islamabad, the roads of the red zone have been closed by placing containers. There is a shutter down strike of traders in different business centers of Islamabad. Shops are closed in various areas including Abpara Center, G Nine Karachi Company.
All Pakistan Anjuman Tajran Sindh announced today its full support for the shutter down strike and said that business will remain completely closed in all small and big cities of Sindh. Reject increase in taxes and electricity bills. Various markets have been closed by traders in Peshawar as well.
Traders are on strike in Rawalpindi against high electricity bills and taxes. Major commercial centers, shopping malls, markets, wholesale, and markets are also closed, but bakers, sweets, grocery, medical stores and petrol pumps are open. All major grocery stores in major commercial centers are completely closed. Educational institutions and district courts are also open in the city. Heavy police force has been deployed in various areas.
There is a strike in Multan, Lahore, Quetta, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Gujarat, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Harnai, Malakand Division, Inner Sindh and other big and small cities of the country.
