Toronto: A recent study has revealed that low-paid employees are at double the risk of dangerous irregular heartbeats due to work stress.
According to the researchers, the risk of irregular heartbeat increases by 97% in high-stress white-collar workers, which doubles the risk of stroke and heart failure.
“Our study suggests that measures to reduce job-related stress may be among cardiovascular prevention strategies,” said Xavier Trudel, a cardiovascular epidemiologist at Laval University and the study’s senior author.
For the study, Xavier and his colleagues analyzed data from more than 5,900 Canadian workers collected during a research project from 1991 to 2018.
