Rawalpindi: Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said that the sit-in has stopped the nation, if people leave, no one will be able to handle it.

Hafiz Naeemur Rahman while holding a press conference in the ongoing sit-in at Liaquat Bagh Chowk said that our demands are the demands of the entire nation, the government should accept them. In today’s negotiations, the acceptance of the demands should be announced. Electricity is the problem of every household. Now the industries have started closing down. Electricity bills should be brought down immediately and IPPs should be reined in. The scam of IPPs should be done away with now.

He said that in the forensic audit of IPPs, who is involved in this scam, all will come to the fore. Electricity tax is being taken from the public and collected for a few people. Bhasha Dam 1400 billion while IPPs expenditure is double that. Until the government makes a clear announcement, the dharna will continue. The sit-in will not end only on the promises of the government.

Hafiz Naeem said that 368 billion rupees have been paid by the salaried class. A salary of Rs 1 lakh has also been reduced due to inflation. People should bear inflation and pay taxes, it will not happen. Taxes were also imposed on pulses, baby milk. He said that we have stopped the nation from protesting, if the people leave, there will be riot and anarchy and no one will be able to manage it. People are already very angry.

Amir Jamaat said that hatred, anger and gap are increasing among people and government institutions. We have stopped the nation from protesting, the demands of the nation should be accepted. Landlords 5 billion tax payers pay 368 billion rupees tax, this is cruelty. Large lands should be divided among farmers. Credit goes to Jamaat-e-Islami, which talks about the poor. Landlords should be immediately taxed. FBR has been left open.

Hafiz Naeem said that direct tax should be taken and FBR should be removed from the middle. FBR has 25 thousand employees. Corruption of 1299 billion rupees has taken place here. Government begs for one billion two billion dollars, FBR waives Rs 1299 billion. New FBR Chairman to take measures for national savings. He said that the lone eater is caught soon when the whole department commits corruption, then the catch is not taken.

He further said that there will be a big sit-in today, they will also march today. The entire nation should participate in this sit-in today. We do not want a fight with the police or institutions, we want our rights. Today we have an important meeting. They do not want to do anything beyond the constitution and law. It has been 2 weeks since the sit-in, not even a pot has been broken. The strike has increased the deal of the shopkeepers. Our sit-in and march will be peaceful.

Hafiz Naeem said that negotiations and sit-ins or marches or jalsa will continue together, until the demands are accepted. They will not close the door of negotiations. The government negotiation committee has not yet reached the point of no return, but the length of the negotiations is not correct, there is no case against us, we do not have any demand to be released from jail, to end the cases. We have come here to ask for our rights, not to ask for charity, we will stay with our rights. How long will people tolerate, they cannot slap one cheek and turn the other cheek.

He said that if they were following the signs, our servants would have been in the assembly. If there were signs, we would have been the mayor of Karachi. Due to the signs, our mayor could not be elected despite the majority.
