The meeting of the Election Commission is in progress on the decision of the Supreme Court regarding giving specific seats to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Election Commission members, secretary and officials of the respective wings are participating in the meeting while Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja is present in the meeting through video link.
According to the sources, the implementation of the decision of the Supreme Court is being considered in the meeting of the Election Commission, the authorities are giving a briefing to the Election Commission regarding the decision.
It should be remembered that on July 12, the Supreme Court annulled the decision of the Peshawar High Court and the Election Commission in the case of the reserved seats of the Sunni Unity Council and declared the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf as entitled to the reserved seats.
A 13-member full bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa declared the Election Commission’s decision unconstitutional.
