Lahore: In view of the security and public order situation, it has been decided to shut down the mobile service on the 9th and 10th of Muharram.
According to Punjab Interior Secretary, mobile phone service will not be stopped in Lahore during Muharram. It is recommended to suspend mobile service only in the areas where processions and congregations are held.
He said that mobile service will not be completely suspended in any city. Mobile service will be partially closed in most districts on 9th and 10th of Muharram from 8 am to 10 pm.
Mobile phone service will not be stopped in Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sargodha, Khushab, Sialkot, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal. Apart from this, mobile service will be restored in Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Wahari, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Okara and Chiniot.
Mobile service will be partially suspended in Gujranwala, Narowal and Toba Tek Singh and Bhakkar. Mobile service will also be partially stopped in Mandi Bahauddin, Wazirabad and Rajanpur.
Mobile service will also be partially suspended in Faisalabad, Bahawalnagar and Hafizabad. Mobile service will remain suspended at 28 locations in Rawalpindi, 15 in Rahimyar Khan, 11 in Mianwali and Bahawalpur. Mobile phone service will remain closed at 10 locations in Leh, 7 locations in Muzaffargarh and 6 locations in Nankana Sahib.
The areas where mobile service will be suspended on 9th and 10th of Muharram include some areas of Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Jhang, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar.
According to Punjab Interior Department, it was decided to suspend mobile service at certain places to maintain law and order and protect citizens.
