KARACHI: The 15-member national women’s team will leave for Sri Lanka on Tuesday to participate in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup Cricket Tournament 2024.
The Pakistan Women’s team is scheduled to leave for Sri Lanka from Karachi via Dubai on Tuesday. In Group A of the 9th Women’s Asia Cup to be held in Dambulla from July 19 to 28, the Pakistan team will play its first match on July 19 against arch-rivals and defending champions India.
Similarly, the second match will be played against Nepal on July 21 and the third match against UAE on July 23.

The 8 teams participating in the tournament have been divided into 2 groups. Group A includes Pakistan, India, Nepal and United Arab Emirates while Group B includes Bangladesh, Malaysia, Thailand and hosts Sri Lanka. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals while the final will be played on July 28.
It is noteworthy that 7-time champions India won the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2022 tournament by defeating Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in Sylhet, Bangladesh.
It should be noted that for the 8-team event, the national training camp, which ended at the Hanif Muhammad Regional Performance Center of the National Stadium, tried to improve the skills and abilities of the players by removing their shortcomings.
Batting and bowling areas were worked on in net practice. Along with improving fitness, attention was paid to raise the standard of fielding, while efforts were also made to increase mental coordination and physical efficiency through mutual matches.
On the last day of the camp, the third and final T20 practice match at the Moin Khan Academy Ground was turned into a target competition, with the national cricketers given different targets in batting and bowling.
