LAHORE: PDMA has expressed fear of floods in various areas including Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur in view of heavy rain in the mountainous areas of Mount Sulaiman.
PDMA has issued a flood alert in the rivers and mountains of Punjab, in which it is said that due to heavy rain in the hilly areas, Commissionerate Dera Ghazi Khan and DCs Dera Ghazi Khan, Kot Addu, Rajanpur. Muzaffargarh and Leh may experience moderate flooding on July 12-13.
In view of the PDMA alert, Relief Commissioner Punjab Nabil Javed directed the administration of the respective districts to remain alert and ensure safety measures. He said that the population and livestock in the above mentioned areas should be shifted to a safe place where the Punjab government will take full care of the citizens and livestock.
He said that on the order of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the advance arrangements are complete to deal with the possible flood situation, in case of danger, the citizens have to leave their homes and cooperate with the administration. He said that in case of any emergency call PDMA helpline 1129 where teams are available round the clock to help the public.
