Instant messaging application WhatsApp is going to introduce a new feature for users, after which they will get rid of listening to long voice notes.
This update will convert long recordings into transcriptions for WhatsApp users, which will allow them to read what the sender of the message said in the voice note.
According to the announcement made by WhatsApp, the aim of this feature is to help people continue the conversation when receiving long voice notes in a noisy environment.
More than a decade has passed since WhatsApp introduced voice notes. While it has proven useful for many users, some people complain about it that they hear long voice notes from their friends or message senders.
No one, including WhatsApp, will be able to read the text presented with the new feature, meaning that the security of the transcription presented will also be the same as that of traditional WhatsApp messages, i.e. end-to-end encryption.
