‘Big, Bold Step’: Trump Welcomes Makkah Defense Pact
US President Donald Trump has welcomed the recently signed Makkah Joint Defense Pact between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, describing the agreement as an important step toward strengthening mutual defense cooperation in the region.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump congratulated the leadership of all three countries and said he was pleased to see Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye move forward with the landmark defense agreement.

The pact was signed in Makkah on August 7 by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Under the agreement, an armed attack against any one of the three countries is to be regarded as an attack against all three, reflecting a commitment to closer coordination on collective security and defense.
Trump described the agreement as a “big, bold and important first step,” suggesting that the development could provide a foundation for broader regional cooperation in the future.
The US president also praised the leadership of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, saying their initiative could contribute to closer ties among countries in the Middle East and help strengthen collective security.
The Makkah defense pact comes amid a rapidly evolving regional security environment and is being viewed as a significant development in defense cooperation among the three countries.
The agreement could also open the door to expanded military coordination and further regional partnerships, with discussions reportedly emerging over the possibility of additional countries joining the framework.
