Trump Says He Doesn’t Care If Iran Abandons Memorandum as Nuclear Tensions Rise

Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has dismissed Iran’s announcement that it may no longer adhere to the memorandum of understanding reached with the United States, saying the decision makes no difference to him.

In a brief telephone interview with U.S. television network NewsNation, Trum p was asked about Tehran’s recent statement regarding the agreement. Responding bluntly, he said, “I don’t care at all.”

The U.S. president reiterated that Washington’s primary objective remains preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons under any circumstances. He stressed that the United States would continue to pursue policies aimed at restricting Iran’s nuclear ambitions and would not soften its position.

The memorandum of understanding, reached in mid-June, was intended to reduce tensions and help ease the military standoff between the two countries following a period of heightened confrontation.

However, disagreements over the management of the Strait of Hormuz, maritime navigation, and regional security have reignited tensions in recent weeks, raising doubts about the future of the agreement.

Iran has since indicated it may no longer implement the memorandum, creating fresh uncertainty over the prospects for future diplomatic negotiations. Political analysts warn that the exchange of strong statements from both sides reflects widening diplomatic divisions and increases the risk of another regional crisis.
