Government Highlights Importance of Food Security

He said increasing wheat production and improving crop yields were essential for strengthening Pakistan’s food security. He added that the government was working to improve farmers’ access to quality seeds, modern agricultural technologies and financing facilities.
The minister also appreciated Fatima Fertilizer’s efforts to promote balanced fertiliser application and provide farmers with agricultural knowledge and advisory services.
Additional Chief Secretary Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo said farmers remained central to Pakistan’s economy and food security. He highlighted the government’s support initiatives, including the announced wheat support price of Rs4,500 per maund and Rs150 billion in interest-free loans provided to one million farmers through the Kissan Card since October 15.
Fatima Fertilizer Highlights Improved Results
Speaking at the ceremony, Fatima Fertilizer Director Marketing and Sales Rabel Sadozai said Sarsabz users had also secured all three provincial positions and 97 out of 120 district-level positions in the previous year’s competition.
She said the latest results represented further progress and demonstrated how balanced crop nutrition, combined with appropriate agricultural guidance, could help farmers improve yields and make better use of their land.
According to the company, successful Sarsabz farmers achieved wheat yields of approximately 69 to 70 maunds per acre, compared with an indicative national average of around 33 maunds per acre.
Fatima Fertilizer said it supports growers through agricultural advisory services and soil-testing facilities, enabling them to make informed decisions about their fields’ nutritional requirements.
Through its Sarsabz product range, particularly Nitrophos and CAN, the company continues to promote balanced fertiliser use and improved farming techniques aimed at increasing agricultural productivity and supporting Pakistan’s food security.
