Contempt of court petition against DC Lahore for not allowing PTI rally

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has directed the DC Lahore to decide on the application by September 30 for permission to hold a rally at Minar e Pakistan.

Justice Farooq Haider heard the petition filed by PTI’s Akmal Khan Bari.

The petitioner’s lawyer argued that our request to hold a rally on Minar e Pakistan is pending with DC Lahore.

The court directed the public prosecutor to submit a report in this regard to the Deputy Registrar Judicial of Lahore High Court by taking a decision on this application by DC Lahore by September 30.

Punjab government and Deputy Commissioner Lahore among others were made parties in the petition. The petitioner’s position was that PTI founder Imran Khan’s birthday is on October 5, so he wants to hold a peaceful meeting, permission should be given to hold a meeting at Minar Pakistan from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

The petitioner requested that the court order permission to hold the meeting on October 5.
