Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that the weapons that only the police have in their attacks on the Punjab Police were used by PTI protesters, while the Punjab Police is unarmed.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has expressed deep grief and anger over the attacks on Punjab Police officers and officials and the firing on a police constable and said that it is regrettable that more than 20 police personnel including SP, DSP and SHO were injured in the attacks. Short machine guns, tear gas, knives, masks, etc. were also seen with the protesters.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that the protesters used weapons that only the police have in their attacks on the Punjab Police. Firing was carried out in Ghazi Barutha, Mianwali, Hazara Motorway and other places. The Punjab Police had been kept unarmed earlier to avoid clashes and is still unarmed.
He said that in the previous protest, a constable was martyred and more than 25 were injured. The attack of the police of one province on another province using government resources is tantamount to tearing apart national unity. What kind of protest is this where government resources are being used? Instead of a protest, this movement is an attempt at armed terrorism.
