PM Shehbaz Congratulates Spain on Historic FIFA World Cup 2026 Triumph
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated Spain on winning the FIFA World Cup 2026, applauding the team’s outstanding performance and praising the tournament’s host nations for delivering a successful global sporting event.
In a message shared on X on Monday, the prime minister hailed Spain’s remarkable campaign, saying the champions displayed exceptional skill, discipline, unity and teamwork throughout the competition to earn the prestigious title.
Shehbaz Sharif also extended congratulations to US President Donald Trump and the people of the United States for the successful organization of the tournament, describing the arrangements as exceptional.
The prime minister acknowledged the valuable contributions of Canada and Mexico, thanking both governments and their people for partnering with the United States in hosting the expanded FIFA World Cup.
He further commended FIFA President Gianni Infantino and the international football governing body for staging one of the world’s largest sporting events, saying the tournament would further strengthen football’s position as a truly global game.
Highlighting the unifying power of sport, the prime minister said the FIFA World Cup once again proved that football transcends borders, cultures and languages, bringing people together through a shared passion.
