Pakistan Conducted Over 40,000 Intelligence-Based Operations in Five Years: DG ISPR
ISLAMABAD, July 31, 2026: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said on Friday that there is no room for negotiations with terrorists, stressing that they must either surrender to the state or face decisive action by Pakistan’s security forces.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the military spokesperson said terrorists had realized that the state would show no leniency. He reiterated that those involved in terrorism must lay down their arms in accordance with the law or be confronted by security forces.
Over 40,000 Intelligence-Based Operations Conducted
Presenting an overview of Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that 40,348 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) had been carried out across the country during the past five years, resulting in the elimination of 2,084 terrorists.
According to the DG ISPR, 31,080 operations were conducted in Balochistan, 7,177 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 2,091 in other parts of Pakistan.
He further stated that Balochistan witnessed 178 security personnel martyred, 55 kidnappings, 24 bridges destroyed, and 105 attacks targeting police and Levies forces during the period.
625 Martyrs in 2026
The military spokesperson said that so far in 2026, 303 Pakistan Army personnel and 322 civilians had embraced martyrdom in the country’s fight against terrorism.
He added that 28 bomb blasts had occurred this year, alleging that many of those involved were Afghan nationals. He also claimed that Afghan nationals were linked to terrorist incidents in Tank and Karachi.
Remarks on Balochistan
Speaking about the security situation in Balochistan, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said attempts were being made to create the impression that the province was unstable. He alleged that certain elements were deliberately trying to destabilize Balochistan.
The DG ISPR also claimed that several individuals listed as “missing persons” were later found involved in terrorist activities or were killed during security operations. He said propaganda regarding missing persons had failed.
He further criticized what he described as the influence of tribal elites in Balochistan, alleging that they sought to maintain the status quo and resisted reforms that would improve education, governance, and development.
National Action Plan and Governance
Responding to a question about governance and administrative reforms, the DG ISPR emphasized that effective governance and national stability were closely linked to security.
He noted that all political parties had endorsed the National Action Plan (NAP) and urged full implementation of all its points, including measures related to narcotics, smuggling, Afghan refugees, and madrassa registration.
Kashmir Will Remain Pakistan’s Core Issue
Reaffirming Pakistan’s longstanding position on Kashmir, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Kashmir was Pakistan’s “jugular vein” and would remain so.
He said generations of Pakistanis would continue to support the country’s stance on the Kashmir dispute and emphasized that Pakistan remained committed to its position on the issue.
