A member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Assembly and his guards were detained and shifted to the police station lockup for misbehaving with officials at a police check post.
Police officials said that a 5-member police team from Sangjani police station was deployed at a check post near the toll plaza, where they saw a vehicle with tinted windows and a strange registration number CIA-111 after sunset on Tuesday.
They said that the police team stopped the vehicle at the check point, a man got out of the vehicle and 7 armed guards from another vehicle got out behind him.
Police officers said that the man started arguing with the police team and soon his guards pointed guns at the police officials, the guards also started beating the police team.
He said that the police team somehow sent an ‘SOS’ message, the SHO of Sangjani police reached the spot along with the police, they overpowered the guards and later shifted the man along with the vehicles to Sangjani police station and put him behind bars.
Later, the police came to know that the man was an MPA of KP Assembly and the guards were KP police personnel.
After some time, a dozen people armed with modern and advanced weapons reached the police station in three different vehicles and asked the police personnel posted there to release the man and his guard.
After receiving the information, senior police officers including SP Saddar Zone and SSP Operations also reached the police station.
Later, an MNA of the ruling party intervened in the matter and resolved the matter between the police and the MPA, the officers said that the MNA and the MPA were affiliated with the same political party.
The MNA said that since both parties had crossed their limits and mistreated each other, the matter was closed.
