Maryam Nawaz: Punjab Leading Pakistan’s Development, Safe City Making Province Safer for Women
Lahore, July 30, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Thursday said that Punjab has emerged as the country’s leading province in governance and development, adding that no force can stop its progress with the blessings of Allah.
Addressing the passing-out parade of women police cadets at the Punjab Police Training College, the chief minister praised the newly inducted officers and described them as a source of pride for Pakistan. She said the young women had successfully completed rigorous training and would play an important role in strengthening law enforcement across the province.
Maryam Nawaz highlighted the growing role of women in public service, noting that more than 6,000 women are currently serving in the Punjab Police. She also pointed to the appointment of a woman as the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court as evidence of increasing opportunities for women in leadership.
She said Punjab is making progress in every sector and remains at the forefront of governance and public service delivery. According to the chief minister, women are contributing significantly in every field, and the provincial government is committed to making Punjab a safer place for women and girls.
Referring to law and order, she said the Safe City system has strengthened policing and enabled authorities to arrest criminal suspects within hours, leaving little room for offenders to evade law enforcement. She added that crime in the province is at its lowest level and credited the Punjab Police for its professional efforts in maintaining public safety.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized that wearing the police uniform carries great responsibility and urged the graduating officers to perform their duties with dedication and integrity. She also stressed that women can contribute to national development alongside men and said investment in technology would deliver long-term benefits for the province and the country.
