Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Remembered on 61st Martyrdom Anniversary
RAWALPINDI, September 12, 2025: The Armed Forces of Pakistan on Friday solemnly commemorated the 61st martyrdom anniversary of Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, paying tribute to his exceptional courage, leadership and supreme sacrifice during the 1965 Pakistan-India war.
The tribute was led on behalf of the Armed Forces by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces; Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff; Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff; and General Syed Aamer Raza, Commander National Strategic Command.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed displayed extraordinary bravery while defending the Burki sector near Lahore during the 1965 war.
He remained steadfast in the face of relentless enemy attacks, holding his position for five days and nights. His determination, battlefield leadership and refusal to retreat played a significant role in stopping the enemy’s advance.
Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed’s extraordinary resistance and supreme sacrifice earned him the Nishan-e-Haider, Pakistan’s highest military award for gallantry.
The ISPR said his legacy continues to serve as a lasting symbol of courage, devotion to duty and self-sacrifice, inspiring the nation and generations of Pakistan’s defenders.
The Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and national security with the same courage, determination and spirit of sacrifice demonstrated by Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed.
