Iran Rejects Trump’s Strike Halt Claim, Says ‘No Request Was Ever Made’
Tehran, August 2, 2026 — Iran has firmly rejected US President Donald Trump’s claim that Tehran requested Washington to halt potential military strikes, calling the statement “baseless” and insisting no such appeal was ever made.
According to Iran’s state-run Mehr News Agency, senior Iranian military officials dismissed Trump’s remarks as “another lie,” emphasizing that Tehran has not asked the United States to refrain from launching any new military operations.
Iranian officials stated that the country’s armed forces remain on full alert, with all defense units prepared to respond to any potential threat. They stressed that all necessary military and security measures have already been implemented to deal with any possible escalation.
The military warned that any act of aggression against Iran would receive a strong and appropriate response, reaffirming the country’s readiness amid ongoing regional tensions.
The statement comes as relations between the United States and Iran remain strained, with both sides continuing to exchange sharp rhetoric over security and military issues.
Earlier over the weekend, President Donald Trump announced that he had postponed a planned large-scale military strike against Iran. In a statement posted on social media, Trump claimed the decision was made following requests from Iran and other regional countries. He also said the cancellation of the strike would depend on reaching a swift agreement, adding that Israel had also agreed to delay military action.
Iran, however, has categorically denied Trump’s version of events, maintaining that it never sought any pause in potential US military operations.
