New York: The OIC Contact Group expressed concern over human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir and urged India to withdraw the unilateral measures of August 5, stop atrocities, UN, OIC, human rights organizations and international organizations. It has been demanded to give access to the media to Occupied Kashmir and to give the right of self-determination to Kashmiris according to the resolutions of the Security Council.
The Joint Declaration of the OIC Liaison Group Meeting in New York has been issued, in which the right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to self-determination has been affirmed.
The meeting chaired by the Secretary General of the OIC was attended by ministers and senior officials of the member countries, where the reports of the Human Rights Commission were also presented.
In the meeting, concern was expressed over human rights violations in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The declaration reiterated its rejection of India’s illegal actions on August 5, 2019.
The contact group also rejected the Indian Supreme Court’s decision of 11 December 2023, saying that domestic legislation and judicial decisions cannot be used to change the disputed status of Occupied Kashmir.
