There has been an alarming increase in the incidence of heart attacks among young people, the major causes of which are unhealthy lifestyle, stress, smoking, diabetes, hypertension, obesity and air pollution.
According to a recent survey, 1.3 million people between the ages of 15 and 29 die of heart attacks every year. The number of people at risk in the 25-year-old age group has increased from 2.3 percent in 2010 to 5 percent, the report said.
Senior cardiologist Dr Om Prakash Narayan Arya said that if one experiences symptoms like chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness or sweating, contact a doctor immediately as it could be a sign of heart disease. And there is a risk of future heart attacks.
He said that junk foods, smoking, drinking alcohol, lack of exercise, stress and lack of sleep are among the main causes of heart attack in young people.
