General Amir Raza Honoured With Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) at Presidency
ISLAMABAD: Commander National Strategic Command General Amir Raza has been conferred with the prestigious Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) in recognition of his services and responsibilities at a ceremony held at the President House in Islamabad.
President Asif Ali Zardari presented the high military honour to General Amir Raza during the formal ceremony.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defence Forces and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and other service chiefs attended the event. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Chairman Senate, federal ministers and senior civil and military officials were also present.
The award was presented to General Amir Raza in recognition of his national services and his contributions while serving in key military positions.
General Amir Raza was promoted to the rank of four-star general and appointed Commander National Strategic Command by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on July 24, 2026. Before his promotion, he had been serving as Chief of General Staff.
The position of Commander National Strategic Command was established under the 27th Constitutional Amendment, which also abolished the office of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and introduced a new command structure for responsibilities related to the country’s strategic and nuclear affairs.
Under the constitutional framework, the appointment, reappointment and extension of the tenure of the Commander National Strategic Command are subject to recommendations by the Chief of Defence Forces.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, who also serves as Chief of Army Staff, became Pakistan’s first Chief of Defence Forces following the approval of the 27th Constitutional Amendment last year.
