TEHRAN, August 24, 2026: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has arrived in Iran on an official visit as Pakistan steps up diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability across the region.
The Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces was received by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni upon his arrival. The two officials later held a meeting, which was also attended by Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Asim Munir’s visit is focused on Pakistan’s efforts to support regional peace and stability amid continuing tensions in the Middle East.
The military chief is expected to engage in discussions centered on finding a peaceful, sustainable and comprehensive solution to the ongoing Middle East conflict.
The visit highlights Pakistan’s emphasis on diplomatic engagement and regional cooperation as a means of addressing security challenges and preventing further escalation.
Pakistan and Iran share close geographic, economic and security ties, making high-level engagement between the two countries significant amid the evolving regional situation.
The discussions are expected to cover regional security developments, peace initiatives and avenues for greater coordination between Islamabad and Tehran.
Pakistan has consistently called for peaceful resolution of regional conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy, while stressing the need for collective efforts to achieve durable stability in the Middle East.
