Islamabad: A delegation of the Supreme Court Bar Association met Chief Justice Yahya Afridi. President Supreme Court Bar Association Mian Rauf Atta said that the Chief Justice said that he would also meet a 7-member opposition delegation at the Chief Justice House today.
The meeting with the Chief Justice of Pakistan was held in the context of his meeting with the Prime Minister. The Chief Justice is meeting all stakeholders regarding the National Judicial Policy Making Committee to improve the delivery of justice.
The Supreme Court Bar has assured the Chief Justice of full support in the reform process, and appreciates the efforts of the Chief Justice with the Prime Minister and opposition leaders to cooperate in the delivery of justice.
Meanwhile, senior lawyers of Hazara Division met Chief Justice Yahya Afridi. The Chief Justice welcomed the delegation and announced to visit remote areas of his Hazara Division to strengthen access to justice.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan said that the collective wisdom and role of the judiciary and lawyers are indispensable for an effective judicial system. According to the news agency, the opposition delegation will be led by Omar Ayub.
The Chief Justice will not only brief them on the agenda set for the meeting of the National Judicial Policy Making Committee but will also seek suggestions from them.
According to the news agency, the Supreme Court Bar Association will meet on February 24. The meeting will be titled Media Under Attack and Challenges Faced by Journalists after the PECA Act. Officials of journalist organizations will be invited to the meeting.
