Field Marshal Asim Munir Reviews POF Production, Defence Exports and Indigenisation Efforts
RAWALPINDI, August 29, 2026: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), visited Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF) in Wah on Saturday to review the country’s defence manufacturing capabilities, export prospects and ongoing indigenisation initiatives.
During the visit, the Field Marshal received a detailed briefing on POF’s operations and its contribution to Pakistan’s defence industrial base. The briefing covered the indigenous development and production of a diverse range of military equipment and ammunition.
Field Marshal Asim Munir also witnessed tests and trials of locally designed and manufactured arms and ammunition, reflecting POF’s efforts to promote innovation, self-reliance and technological advancement in the defence sector.
He was further briefed on the progress of POF’s corporatization process following the enactment of the DIPRA Ordinance.
The Army Chief and CDF was also apprised of ongoing indigenisation and modernisation efforts, including the installation of two new industrial plants. According to the briefing, the plants are expected to commence production by the end of the current year.
The visit highlighted the military leadership’s focus on strengthening domestic defence production, reducing reliance on external sources and expanding Pakistan’s technological capabilities and defence export potential.
