Salman Khan Announces Release Date for Controversial Film ‘Maatrubhumi’

Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi Release Date Confirmed for December
The film, inspired by the 2020 India-China military clash in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley, will hit cinemas on December 4.
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has announced the release date of his much-discussed film Maatrubhumi, confirming that the movie will arrive in cinemas on December 4, 2026.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is inspired by the 2020 military confrontation between Indian and Chinese forces in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh.
Explaining the delay in the film’s release, Salman Khan said the production team wanted to ensure the highest quality of visual effects (VFX) and graphics. He noted that VFX specialists closely examine every frame of modern films, and the team wanted to avoid any technical shortcomings.
According to the actor, the filmmakers are working to create impressive visuals that will leave audiences amazed.
Salman Khan also revealed that the shooting schedule was affected after one of the film’s actresses sustained an injury.
The film’s release was initially considered for January, followed by June and August. However, the makers have now finalised December 4 as its theatrical release date.
The project was originally titled Battle of Galwan before being renamed Maatrubhumi. According to Indian media reports, Salman Khan portrays Colonel Bikumalla Santosh Babu of the 16 Bihar Regiment, who was killed during the Galwan Valley clash.
Salman Khan unveiled the film’s teaser last year on the occasion of his 60th birthday. The teaser also attracted criticism from China’s state-run newspaper Global Times, which described its portrayal of the events as a distorted cinematic representation.
