Balochistan Operations : ISPR says security forces cleared several areas and recovered weapons, ammunition and explosives during intelligence-based operations.
QUETTA: Pakistan’s security forces have killed more than 71 militants during a series of operations across Balochistan over the past 96 hours, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military’s media wing said the operations were conducted in several areas on the basis of intelligence reports as security forces continued efforts to dismantle militant networks and clear affected areas.
According to ISPR, 23 militants were killed during operations carried out over a 72-hour period, while an intelligence-based operation in Nushki on September 25 resulted in the deaths of 11 militants.
ISPR said 33 militants have so far been killed during Operation Shaban. Security forces also cleared several suspected militant hideouts and recovered weapons, ammunition and explosives from the sites.
In another operation in Mand, security personnel killed six militants and cleared a large area of militant presence. A significant quantity of weapons was also recovered from a militant hideout during the Nushki operation.
ISPR says counterterrorism operations will continue
ISPR said the operations in Shaban and other parts of Balochistan had dealt a blow to what it described as Indian-backed Afghan proxies.
The military’s media wing reiterated that the campaign against terrorism would continue with determination under the government’s Azm-e-Istehkam framework.
It added that security forces and law-enforcement agencies remain committed to eliminating terrorism from the country.
Interior Minister praises security forces
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for their operations in Balochistan, saying the actions had thwarted militants’ plans.
Naqvi commended the professionalism of the security personnel involved in the operations and paid tribute to those carrying out counterterrorism duties.
He said the nation stands alongside the security forces and that operations against militant groups would continue until terrorism is eliminated.
