Russia, US Agree to Continue Talks as Moscow Seeks Diplomatic Reset
MOSCOW: Russia and the United States have agreed to continue diplomatic discussions aimed at addressing outstanding disputes and obstacles in their bilateral relationship, with consultations underway to determine the date of the next contact.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Moscow remains ready for substantive talks with Washington, stressing that continued dialogue could help resolve priority issues and create conditions for restoring relations between the two countries.
According to Zakharova, Rus’sian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio agreed during their July 23 discussions to move the negotiation process forward. She said officials from both sides are currently consulting on the timing of their next meeting.
Zakharova indicated that Russia does not intend to disclose details of future meetings in advance, arguing that keeping the negotiations relatively quiet would make the diplomatic process more effective.
Moscow Seeks Broader Discussions

The continuation of negotiations could provide a channel for addressing diplomatic, economic and other bilateral concerns despite persistent differences between the two sides.
For now, Russia and the United States are expected to remain engaged through diplomatic consultations as they work toward scheduling their next round of talks.
