Pakistan Stock Market Surges Past 180,000 as Dollar Falls to Rs277.65

ISLAMABAD, August 12, 2026: Pakistan’s stock market opened on a positive note on Wednesday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index once again crossing the 180,000-point threshold, while the Pakistani rupee strengthened further against the US dollar in the interbank market.

The KSE-100 Index gained 593 points during early trading to reach 180,439 points. The benchmark had closed at 179,846 points at the end of the previous trading session.

Trading activity on Tuesday saw shares of 563 listed companies change hands. Of these, 148 companies recorded gains, 311 declined, while share prices of 104 companies remained unchanged.

Synergetic Pakistan Limited remained the volume leader, with around 133.907 million shares traded. K-Electric Limited followed with 61.849 million shares, while Hascol Petroleum recorded trading volume of approximately 45.032 million shares.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani rupee continued its upward movement against the US dollar. According to the Exchange Companies Association, the dollar fell by two paisas in the interbank market, taking its value to Rs277.65.

The latest movement reflects a combination of positive sentiment in the equity market and continued stability in the currency market, with investors closely monitoring economic and financial developments.
