Zara Noor Abbas Calls Pakistan’s Current Situation the ‘Worst Time’, Raises Alarm Over Child Safety

KARACHI: Pakistani actress Zara Noor Abbas has expressed deep concern over the rising incidents of violence, sexual abuse and killings involving children, describing the country’s current situation as an extremely distressing period.

In an Instagram Story, the actress said the growing number of abuse and murder cases was not the only reason for concern. She argued that the absence of strong examples of accountability against alleged offenders was equally troubling, warning that a lack of effective action could embolden criminals.

Zara Noor Abbas questioned how parents could ensure the safety of their children in an environment where disturbing cases continue to emerge. She also raised concerns over the apparent lack of seriousness in dealing with such crimes and questioned whether people were being pushed towards taking the law into their own hands.

The actress stressed that the issue should not be viewed as affecting only one gender or a particular group. Instead, she described the situation as a broader social and security concern requiring serious attention from authorities.

She also referred to the case of Mir Raza Ali, in which the body was reportedly exhumed for a second post-mortem examination. While the case had initially been treated as a suspected suicide, a subsequent examination reportedly raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the death, including allegations that the victim had been shot and subjected to violence.

Zara also expressed concern over a recent case in Karachi involving the alleged rape and killing of a minor girl. Questions surrounding the accused’s young age and the possibility of psychological support have further fueled public discussion about how serious crimes involving minors should be handled under the law.

The actress said such incidents have created fear and anxiety among families, particularly parents who are increasingly concerned about the safety of their children.

Her remarks have once again drawn attention to the need for effective law enforcement, accountability and stronger measures to protect children and vulnerable members of society.
