Pakistan Launches AI Cloud Sky47
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday inaugurated Pakistan’s first AI Cloud Sky47, describing the state-of-the-art artificial intelligence and cloud computing facility as a major milestone in the country’s journey toward a technology-driven future.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Islamabad, the prime minister said the project reflects Pakistan’s growing technological capabilities and proves that world-class innovation can be achieved through national unity, strategic vision and determination.
After touring the newly completed facility, Shehbaz Sharif praised the engineers, technology experts and institutions involved in the project, noting that it was completed in record time. He said the achievement highlights the exceptional talent available across both Pakistan’s civilian and military sectors.
Referring to the philosophy of national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the prime minister said nations are built on visionary ideas and innovation rather than physical infrastructure alone. He emphasized that creativity, commitment and teamwork are essential to achieving sustainable national development.
Shehbaz Sharif also commended the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, saying the successful completion of the AI Cloud Sky47 project demonstrated what could be accomplished when national institutions worked together toward a common goal. He expressed confidence that adopting the same collaborative approach in other sectors would accelerate Pakistan’s transformation into a modern and technologically advanced nation.
The prime minister said Pakistan’s achievements in Marka-e-Haq had already shown that determination and unity could overcome even the most difficult challenges. He stressed that artificial intelligence, cloud computing and digital innovation would play a central role in shaping Pakistan’s economic and technological future.
Highlighting the project’s technical capacity, Shehbaz Sharif revealed that the AI Cloud Sky47 facility has an initial power capacity of 8.5 megawatts. He also announced plans to establish similar AI and cloud infrastructure facilities in Karachi and Lahore to strengthen the country’s digital ecosystem.
The prime minister appreciated the contributions of the Ministry of Information Technology, IT Secretary, strategic technology partner ZTE, and all stakeholders who helped deliver the landmark project.
Calling the facility a “gift to the people of Pakistan,” Shehbaz Sharif said it would enhance digital security, improve technological self-reliance and position Pakistan to compete more effectively in the global digital economy.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Federal Ministers Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Attaullah Tarar, senior government officials and other distinguished guests.
