IT Exports Hit Historic $4.6 Billion Milestone

Pakistan’s IT Exports Reach Record $4.6 Billion as Digital Sector Posts Strong Growth

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s information technology (IT) sector has achieved its highest-ever export earnings, with exports reaching $4.6 billion during the recently concluded fiscal year, according to the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication.

The ministry said the record performance reflects a 21 percent year-on-year increase, underlining the continued expansion of Pakistan’s digital economy. It added that the IT sector’s trade surplus climbed to 85 percent, reinforcing its position as one of the country’s strongest export-oriented industries.

Officials attributed the growth to a combination of supportive government policies, increasing global demand for Pakistani technology services, and sustained efforts to strengthen the country’s digital ecosystem.

During the year, more than 100,000 young Pakistanis completed training in advanced IT and digital skills, helping create a larger pool of qualified professionals for local and international markets.

Pakistan also expanded its global presence by participating in over 20 international technology exhibitions, where more than 250 Pakistani IT companies and startups presented software solutions, digital products, and innovative services to international clients and investors.

To help local technology firms secure new business opportunities, representatives of the IT industry were included in several official overseas delegations led by the government. These visits enabled Pakistani companies to establish new partnerships, explore foreign investment opportunities, and enter additional international markets.

The ministry noted that policy measures, including the continuation of the final tax regime and a 0.25 percent tax rate on export earnings, have contributed to improving the competitiveness of Pakistan’s IT exporters.

Looking ahead, the government said it will continue investing in digital skills development, encourage technology-driven entrepreneurship, and implement initiatives aimed at increasing IT exports while positioning Pakistan as a leading technology and innovation hub in the region.
