A small plane crashed into a parking lot in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, injuring five people on board and damaging more than a dozen vehicles.
According to US news outlet CNN, Manheim Township Fire Chief Scott Little told a news conference that the single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza crashed on the property of the Brothers Village retirement community in Manheim Township at 3:18 p.m. local time on Sunday afternoon. According to Scott Little, there were five people on board, who were transported to local hospitals.

Authorities say that about a dozen cars were damaged when the plane crashed into the parking lot, there was no structural damage to the retirement community building and no one on the ground was injured.
Video from the scene showed the plane’s wreckage engulfed in flames and black smoke, which Scott Little said was brought under control using copious amounts of water.
The Federal Aviation Administration said it would investigate the crash, which follows a January air crash and several other plane crashes across the country.
A medical plane crashed in Philadelphia on January 31, killing all six passengers and one person on the ground.
The National Transportation Safety Board said it was also opening an investigation and would review documents and preliminary tests collected by FAA investigators at the scene.
In a radio conversation with an air traffic controller, the pilot said the plane’s door was open, and the controller instructed the pilot to “pull it out” moments before the crash.
According to FlightAware, the plane was scheduled to depart from Lancaster Airport, which is located north of the crash site, and was headed to Springfield, Ohio.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said in a post on X that Pennsylvania State Police are assisting local first responders, and that all resources from the commonwealth are available as the response continues.
A witness said the plane crashed shortly after takeoff.
“It was at a high altitude, but then it started to drop to the left, and all of a sudden it turned left and jumped towards the ground,” Brian Pekin told CNN.
Brian Pekin said he ran to the parking lot of a retirement center, where he saw the cockpit of the plane engulfed in flames. It felt like a 500-degree oven had been turned on.
He said it was very hot at the scene of the fire, he said. I was getting closer, praying to God that nothing would explode.
