VIRGINIA: Pakistan arrested ISIS commander Sharifullah from the Pak-Afghan border and extradited him to the US, where he was presented in a federal court in Virginia.
Yesterday, during a preliminary hearing before Judge William Porter, Sharifullah was told that if the charges are proven, he will face life in prison.
The attorney said that the accused has no assets, so he should be given a public defender.
Sharifullah, due to his lack of knowledge of the English language, used the services of a Dari language interpreter in court and said that he had joined ISIS in 2000.
According to the FBI, Sharifullah confessed to his involvement in the suicide attack at Kabul Airport on August 26, 2021, in which 13 American personnel and 170 Afghan civilians were killed.
He showed the attacker the way to the airport and informed other ISIS terrorists about clearing the way. Sharifullah has previously admitted to being involved in several ISIS attacks in Afghanistan.
According to US officials, Sharifullah has also admitted to facilitating the attack on Caracas City Hall near Moscow on March 22 last year. According to the FBI, he provided information on how to fire weapons to the attackers at City Hall, and he gave instructions to two of the four attackers who were arrested.
It should be remembered that 123 civilians were killed in the terrorist attack on Caracas City Hall near Moscow.
Sharifullah revealed that he had been released from prison two weeks before the attack on Kabul airport, and that ISIS had also provided him with money to buy a motorcycle and a mobile phone.
According to US officials, Sharifullah will be presented in court again on Monday.
