Islamabad: The court has ordered the removal of the name of Imran Khan’s former security in-charge from the Passport Control List.
Justice Muhammad Asif issued orders to remove the petitioner’s name from the travel ban list. The court ruled that the inclusion of the name of the former security in-charge of the founder of PTI in the PCL is unjustified and illegal.
The court said in the decision that it is not on record that the petitioner’s name was included in the travel ban list with the approval of the federal government. By including the name in the Passport Control List, the petitioner’s fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution have been violated. According to the FIA report, the petitioner’s name is active in the PCL and ECL.
The decision said that the petitioner’s name was included by the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports on the recommendation of the AIG. Due to multiple FIRs, the name was recommended to be included in the travel ban list on August 24, 2023. The Anti-Terrorism Court has granted bail to the petitioner on April 18, 2024.
Later, the Islamabad High Court ordered the parties to immediately remove the petitioner’s name from the travel ban list.
