Modi government suffers setback, Trump objects to India's financial aid

US President Donald Trump has questioned the financial aid given to India.

Washington: US President Donald Trump objected to the financial aid given to India, saying, “India has a lot of money, why are we giving them millions of dollars?”

Trump defended Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)’s decision to reduce government spending and questioned the $21 million aid allocated to India.

Trump said, “India is one of the highest-taxing countries in the world, we cannot benefit much from it. I respect Narendra Modi and India, but we must protect our taxpayers’ money.”

It should be noted that a few days ago, DOGE had announced the closure of $273 million in foreign aid as part of a reduction in government spending, of which $21 million was to be given to India.

Following this decision, Sanjeev Sanyal, a member of India’s Economic Advisory Council, called the USAID program the biggest fraud in human history.
