President Asif Ali Zardari met with Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council of China in Beijing at the Great Hall of the People and highlighted the enduring and deep “All-weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” between the two countries.
According to the statement of the meeting, successive generations of leaders of the two countries have strengthened friendship, the President reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations, the President highlighted the important role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in promoting regional connectivity and economic development.
The President appreciated China’s continued support for Pakistan’s development agenda, and the two sides emphasized the need to deepen cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, science and technology, infrastructure and agriculture under CPEC 2.0.
According to the statement, the two leaders also discussed opportunities to enhance trade and economic cooperation through B2B and private sector linkages. The meeting emphasized the need to expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges to build a Pakistan-China community with a shared future.
In addition, a signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Pakistan and China was held in Beijing. The ceremony was attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah. The MoUs between Pakistan and China will be signed at the ceremony.
An MoU was signed between Pakistan’s Thatta Cement Company and China’s Qinggang Construction Group. Under the MoU, a production line will be set up to increase cement production in Pakistan by 5,000 tons per day.
A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the Sindh Energy Department and China’s Mingyang Renewable Energy Company. Under the memorandum, cooperation will be made on various renewable energy projects in Pakistan.
A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the Sindh government and the Chinese company for a coal gasification and urea production plant project.
