Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said that Pakistan is among the countries most affected by climate change, we cannot fight this war alone.
Addressing the Breathe Pakistan Conference held on climate change, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal said that Pakistan emits less than one percent of gases, yet we are among the countries most affected by climate change.
He said that one-third of Pakistan was affected by floods 2 years ago. People are facing health and economic problems due to climate change. Pakistan cannot fight this war alone, we need the help of the countries of the region.
The Federal Minister said that a policy has been formulated to fight climate change. We are working on carbon policy green financing. Combating climate change is one of the main points of Udan Pakistan. We are working on controlling smog, reducing urban pollution, saving water, and preventing the burning of crop residues. Similarly, work is underway to shift to solar, wind and hydropower.
Ahsan Iqbal said that green energy and green jobs are being created, but climate change requires global unity. We have to work together for a clean Pakistan.
