Islamabad: Beijing: President Asif Ali Zardari met with Chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress Zhou Liqi, in which the perennial friendship between the two countries was further highlighted.
According to the statement, the friendship between the two countries has deepened and broadened over the decades, while the foundation of Pakistan-China relations is based on strategic mutual trust. The meeting also emphasized the need for high-level exchanges to further consolidate the ongoing practical cooperation between the two countries.
The two sides discussed the high-quality development of the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and agreed to promote cooperation in science and technology, renewable energy, infrastructure and agriculture.
The statement said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a shining example of people-centered development. The meeting also discussed opportunities for parliamentary exchanges, participation in the joint consultative mechanism of CPEC political parties, and strengthening institutional ties to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
