JEAC Announces Strong Protest on February 4th in Front of the Press Club Islamabad
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A meeting of representatives from universities, colleges, and schools associations was held today under the chairmanship of Mr. Fazal Mola, Chairman of the Joint Education Action Committee (JEAC). The meeting was attended by all JEAC members as well as Mr. Ashfaq Ahmad from Islamic and Barani Universities, Ms. Saadia Masood, Ms. Rahima Rehman, Mr. Tahir Bhatti, Mr. Rashid Khan, Mr. Mateen Ahmad, Mr. Danish Yaseen, Dr. Aman Ullah (College of Education), Mr. Sadaqat Abbasi, principals of schools, teachers’ leaders, and other individuals.

During the meeting, the recent government decision to abolish the rebate policy for teachers was rejected, and a decision was made to launch a protest movement to reinstate it. Additionally, the approval of the Education Allowance, the restoration of 100% tax rebate, and the abolition of the proposed Education Authority were demanded.

After mutual consultation, the following decisions were made:
On February 4th, Tuesday, at 10 AM, thousands of teachers from Islamabad will gather in front of the Press Club to hold a strong protest against the abolition of the tax rebate policy and demand the approval of the Education Allowance.

  • Starting tomorrow, all staff members in educational institutions will wear black armbands and protest banners will be displayed outside the institutions (a sample of the banner will be provided).
  • As of today, representative leaders from Model and FG Colleges have been included in JEAC, following approval from the JEAC Chairman. A notification regarding this will be issued shortly.
  • If the demands are not met during the February 4th protest, a further course of action will be announced, including a boycott of classes and exams, as well as the closure of educational institutions.
