Eating a healthy breakfast is essential for heart health.
Researchers looked at the average energy intake of breakfast and compared it to a person’s total daily intake based on protein, fat, fiber and other nutrients.
They concluded that people who eat a healthy amount of calories at breakfast and eat a high-quality breakfast have a lower risk of heart disease.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but what you eat at it is more important, said Alvaro Hernández, a researcher at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute in Spain.
He said it is important to eat a controlled amount of nutritious food at breakfast. Our data shows that a high-quality breakfast is associated with better heart health. What goes into breakfast is just as important as the breakfast itself.
